Behind the Little League outfield fence is part of the McLaughlin woodlands that was once overgrown with Norway maples. Norways were part of the original landscaping when the field was constructed in the 1960‘s, and arched behind the outfield fence from center to right field. Several natural area parcels adjacent to the McLaughlin woodlands are owned by the Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA) not the Boston Parks Dept. They are technically available for development. Efforts to have the parcels transferred to the Parks Dept have not prevailed as yet, despite strong neighborhood support.
